Old Red Museum

Architectural stand out

Originally an old courthouse built in 1892, the beloved Red Museum is home to much of Dallas’ history and culture. The museum is built of bright red sandstone and features many exquisite architectural features, including terra cotta serpents on the roof, a clock tower, stained glass windows, grand staircase, and more. Take a tour of the magnificent facility and all of the exhibits inside, beginning with the prehistory of Texas to the present of Dallas. You can even see the handcuffs worn by Lee Harvey Oswald, JFK’s infamous assassin, who was shot on Dallas’ famous Elm Street. Old Red, as it is affectionately known, offers many programs for youths and adults, and is often a popular venue for special events.

Perot Museum of Nature and Science

Exciting modern museum

Inside this extremely modern museum sits a scientific, technological, and naturally historic world of exploration. A few of the permanent exhibits include a sports hall, being human hall, and an instruments, engineering, and innovation exhibit. There’s also an in-house movie theatre that exclusively screens National Geographic films, ranging in topics. This is an amazing place for kids, as Perot offers camps, sleepovers, birthday party programs, story time, art programs, and more, but no matter if you’re a child, adult, or a senior, there’s something for everyone at Perot. Most museums in the area educate on the history of Texas, but Perot teaches the history of the world and shows where we may be in the future.
